1. How can I sanitize my hands if soap and water are not available?
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention do note that, when it comes to preventing the spread of coronavirus, “if soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.”
Many studies have found that sanitizers with an alcohol concentration between 60–95% are more effective at killing germs than those with a lower alcohol concentration or non-alcohol-based hand sanitizers. Alcohols have long been known to kill germs by denaturing the protective outer proteins of microbes and dissolving their membranes.
2. How to make sure that I have applied hand sanitizer correctly?
It is important to follow the directions on the back of the container and apply the proper technique.
Before application, make sure both of your hands are visibly clean. Apply the liquid to the palm of one hand then rub it all over both hands until the sanitizer dries. This process takes about 20 seconds. Be careful not to wipe the sanitizer off before it’s dry. Doing that can make it not as effective in killing germs.
3. Can I use hand sanitizer if I have skin allergy?
Yes and No. You will have to understand your vulnerabilities and study the ingredients of the product. Try to avoid products with irritants such as phthalates, which are endocrine disrupters that mimic hormones and could alter genital development.
